Need advice about DDoS attack

Hi guys… I have recently developed one e-commerce site with the help of my friend. I have done encryption, firewall, SSL, data loss protection from a cyber security solutions. Now I have a concern about DDoS protection. Can I secure my website from DDoS attack with firewalls? Or do I have to go for any additional security solution? If so, please mention some solutions for DDoS attack.

The only thing I can think of to prevent a DDoS attack is to have the site replicated across so many servers that between them they can handle any possible load. You also want as much bandwidth available to each data center as possible with the servers spread across many different data centers so that if one data center goes down from a DDoS that the other servers are still available.

How many millions a year do you have budgeted for this?

Most hosts offer some kind of basic DDoS protection that will prevent against attacks from small servers or networks. You can add to that protection, by adding the free teir of CloudFlare.

You can upgrade Cloudflare for more protection. I’d wait until you’re actually hit with a DDoS attack before upgrading Cloudflare, but it can help quite a bit more, but probably isn’t worth it if you’re not actually getting hit.

But, there are a lot of different ways you can get hit by a DDoS. There’s really no good single way to prevent one and when you are hit, they are ridiculously hard to mitigate. Just cross that road when you get there.

Replication is not a solution. Probably the best anti-DDoS solution is to use a network protection service that filters the incoming malicious traffic and so only legitimate traffic to come to your IP address. There are services like this one. The cheapest option is a dedicated server or a VPS in a provider that specialize in DDoS protection.

I suggest to rent a good hosting solutions. The Hosting companies have a lot of anti DDoS solutions. As a startup we should always concern about the growth of our business by doing marketing and all that.

How ever their is no web hosting company in world which is 100% protected from DDoS attacks, but whenever they got attack they update their security.

DDos attacks and its security is itself a big thing, you don’t need to waste your time at these things. Rent a good host and let them handle these things.
