My problems with free SSL certificates

Hi there peeps,

I don’t know if any of you have experienced problems
installing a free SSL certificate, but I certainly did. :eyebrows:

Actually, I ended up having to pay for one. :wonky:

If you are interested, then you may view a brief synopsis
of my painful experience here…

Perhaps asking here for advice would have saved $8.88

I would have recommended trying a Linux VPS currently going for about $5.00/month which can be cancelled within the first month and with a possible return of the initial investment. In fact I still recommend trying any of the most popular VPN web hosting providers.

Edit:
One bonus I especially like is the ability to install maybe unlimited free web domains which is ideal for testing.

My hoster offers free SSL using Let’s Encrypt. They also offer you a way to manually install your own SSL as well. When I used to install my own, I always went through startssl. But they changed company names and required people to start paying for SSLs. So I stopped using it. But Comodo also offers 1 year free SSL too if you just want to test it out.

Yep, I use Let’s Encrypt for my domain, and I set it so that it would automatically renew/reinstall the cert (Hostek.com supports it.) Worry free, defined.

V/r,
