Move all my subdomains into folders

I read that for site’s SEO would be best to have subfolders instead of subdomains (because they are considered as standalone websites, etc.). So my question is this: I have a lot of subdomains currently on my server…

http://articoli.klayz.com/ (WP)

http://giochi.klayz.com/ (AVCMS)

http://webmaster.klayz.com/ (custom script)

Plus some others.
Do you think that would be a really good idea for me to move them all into subfolders?
If yes, then, how could I do in order to create the correct rules for 301 redirects? I could easily move them (basically I would have only to change the URLs in the softwares) but I really don’t know how to manage all the redirections, to be true. Somebody could help me?

I also thought that I could possibile move the articles section directly at klayz.com in order to have short URLs, as I only have some "static website"s pages at klayz.com (eg. contacts, about, etc.).

A quick Google search for “htaccess subdomain sub directory” and the following was top of the list:

If this article is not helpful then supply script you have tried and the problematic results.

Why do you want short URLs?

Thank you for your replies, @John_Betong!

Maybe http://www.klayz.com/article-number-1/ is better than http://articoli.klayz.com/article-number-1/. I don’t know. Just asking. Basically I’d like to know if would be best for me to move all the subdomains into subfolders, for SEO purposes.

And especially for articles, I could move them into the root of the website if this could be a better thing, still in term of SEO.

Removing the subdomains will consolidate your site and also make it easier to to keep track of progress using Google Analytics. Both Robots.txt and Sitemaps.xml will be simpler and easier to maintain.

It is essential to ensure the old URLs have a 301 redirection otherwise your previous SEO efforts will be lost,

Make a note of your “Google Webmaster Tools->Index Status” and see if there is an overall site improvement… and report back
