Modifying 3-Column Layout to 2-Columns

I was reading some old SitePoint threads and links, and really like Paul O’Brien’s 3-Column Layout with sticky footer.

Here is a link to one of his versions.

I was originally going to use this, but based on what others have said about simplifying my website design and using a Top Menu (and not a Left Vertical Menu), I am thinking I only need 2 columns.

What would be the best way to eliminate the Left Column in Paul’s layout?

I can definitely use some advice here.

I am thinking that combining Paul’s 3-Column Fixed Width layout with a Top Menu and Dropline Sub-Menu would make an awser foundation for my website.

What does everything else think?

Thanks,

Debbie

remove the <div=“left”> (which holds the left content)
and the <div=“#l”> (which holds the left background)
Also remove the CSS for those ( not necessary, but why clutter up your code)

change the following css:
#right {width:150px;or to whatever width your right column will be /}
#middle {margin-right:-150px;/
or to whatever width your right column will be */}
Content {margin-right:150px;/or to whatever width your right column will be */}

and that should do it…

hope it helps…

Thanks dresden - yes that should do it fine :slight_smile:
