Microsoft tracking the end of IE6

Microsoft have recently created the IE6 countdown web site which attempts to track the IE6 web browsers throughout the world.

I was surprised to see over 1/3 of them are in China, followed by another third in other parts of the Asian region.

I read somewhere they did this back in May 2010. I guess they are trying to persuade people again to upgrade. Might it be because IE9 is about to launch?

Either way if the company that put this browser into existence is saying we’ve had enough that’s more than enough reason to upgrade.

The issue is all the companies that have built applications around IE6. It’s going to cost a lot of money and time to dump it.

How will that affect this?
