In WordPress 3.9.13 how do I get the widgets ( that show up on every page) only show up on the pages I want?
Thanks
There are a number of approaches. You could make use of page templates and conditionals. It depends on a number of factors: is this a specific set of pages or will this be subject to change? Are you willing to do a bit of coding?
I am willing to code. I am hoping this will be easy.
Conditionals and page templates are new to me.
Here is the website: the website
I want to remove the food and smoking widget under most of the pages but not all.
I appreciate your help.
Are you going to want to put other widgets there instead? Or do you want to leave that area empty on those pages?
Also, have you created a child theme, or is the site still running from the original theme? You would have to set one of those up first.
Most importantly, you should never make any changes such as this on the live site. Do you have a development version of the site on your computer to work with?
Hi… I don’t have a child theme… everything is done live. At this point I’m telling the client I’m not ready to do this word press work for him… I’m not experienced enough.
Hi WebMachine,
Can I download the ftp files for this website to my computer and run it on my computer? Is that what you mean by a “child theme?” If so, what ftp files should I download?
Oh, one more thing. Is there a way for me to find out if my client’s wordpress site is a childtheme?
Thanks
