Main content div not displaying on some browsers

You can go to AdBlock → Options → Customize and see if you see hcca.org listed in the filters box. If it is, remove it and see if ads are blocked and you see my instructions about whitelisting hcca.org. Thanks for your help

With AdBlock blocking, I see the advisory message about AdBlock.

With hcca.org allowed, I see the ads but also still see the advisory message about AdBlock.

Just so ya know, I don’t see the same series of selectable items as you have seen; but I don’t see anything that suggests that your site is filtered in any way.

The layout is now fine for me (Firefox 49 on Ubuntu Gnome 16.04), whether I have AdBlock enabled or not. If AdBlock is enabled, then the warning message shows (provided I have JS enabled, which I don’t by default). If I disable AdBlock for that site, the message disappears and the ads display correctly.

Just one very minor point. Where the navigation items wrap onto another line, they sit very close to the edge of the black header. Just a smidgeon more padding below them would look better, IMHO.

Looks like Adblock Plus works differently. It also appears you are allowing HCCA.org. There was a short time the allow hcca.org message was displaying even if AdBlock was turned off. I thought I resolved that at least with the free ver of AdBlock on Chrome.

I’ll have to look into AdBlock Plus detection. In reality, I need to figure out how to contact AdBlock about delisting the Club. Any ideas? I started researching this, but haven’t found the solution yet.

Glad the layout is working good for you and you can enjoy the cars. Thanks TechnoBear for the padding suggestion on nav; I’ll look into adjusting that.

With JavaScript enabled, I always see the AdBlock advisory message whether AdBlock is enabled or disabled. I can see the ads if HCCA.org is allowed.

With JavaScript disabled, I never see the AdBlock advisory message. I can see the ads if HCCA.org is allowed.

Since most people have JavaScript enabled, those of us who browse with JS disabled will just have to suffer, but for regular users, I would expect the advisory message to disappear once AdBlock allows hcca.org. I have no idea how that might be done.

Thanks ronpat:

Appears free version of adblock works different than adblock plus. I’ll look into the dif, but need to get adblock to not block. Wish me luck on that one.

I see what is meant about needing padding or space below the nav bar. I’m working on the best solution now, but my arm is a bit sore from surgery so I might not get to it until tomorrow or later this week. Appreciate the help.

According to their site, AdBlock Plus is their only version and it’s free.

Hoot Hoot … think I found why adblock was blocking.
Enable adblock and try this page: http://hcca.org/classifieds1.php?cars
If all is well, I’ll rename the file.

See the ads?

I do indeed.

Me, too.

More specifically, I have JavaScript disabled and AdBlock enabled and I still the ads perfectly and no advisory message about AdBlock.

I think you have a winner

Wining is good!
File renamed and it’s live. Now I’ll implement the jQuery to change ad choice without a page reload. I’m still working on browser history when back and forward and ad choice selection are intermingled.

Thanks for all the help!

I would like to encourage you to clean up some of those validation errors that we talked about earlier. It’s to your personal advantage to take that initiative and add to your growing trove of HTML/CSS knowledge.

Cheers, Brad

Wholeheartedly agreed … I’ve taken care of many and will continue to do so. Hopefully I will continue on the learning train.

Again, thanks for the help.
