MailChimp Coding Issues

Hi there,

I have some experience with coding (mostly CSS), but I’ve never tried coding on MailChimp before and I’m finding myself stuck. I have used one of MailChimp’s templates for the majority of the newsletter I’m trying to recreate and that has worked well. However, I’ve gotten to the point where I need to have a coloured background (that stretches across the entire webpage) for a single section of the body of the newsletter. This has proven to be more difficult than I first thought it would be. (One large problem being that I have been unable, as of yet, to find the coding for the rest of the newsletter - as it’s a template like I mentioned - so I can’t even find the areas where an issue might be occurring).

I don’t know if it’s even possible (or perhaps it’s really easy and I’m just missing something). But any guidance would be very much appreciated. The coding, apparently, needs to be HTML for MailChimp.

A screenshot of the template I’m trying to recreate has been included below. The section I’m struggling with creating is the gray area.

Cheers,

Katelyn

I have experimented a bit with MailChimp for a graphic designer friend of mine, and was able to code my own template but was not able to take one of their pre-made templates and adjust the coding. I found I was restricted to just the styling options that they provided in their application.

What is the name of the template you are trying to adjust?

I know you can add a “code block” into the template, so I wasn’t sure if I would just be able to manipulate the information I want into that code block. The template I’m using is just the basic, 1 column, full width template.
