Looking to make a post/listing site, need help

Hi,
I want to make a site where you go to it, and you can easily add a posting/listing. The post/listing would then be displayed on the homepage where people could look at it. Anyone know something that exists like this that I can easily modify or have any suggestions for how to do this?

You would need a database, MySQL is the commonest one with web hosts, and a scripting/programming language, PHP being the commonest, to do this. Or you would install Wordpress and use that (it uses MySQL and PHP).

How would I do it with wordpress? I am looking for something similar to how craigslist works. I am looking for a template/software for this.
