Looking for DW alternative: newsletters

I am very frustrated with the process of making a newsletter in dreamweaver. every time i make a new edition i have to set up a new site in the program and it’s just clunky imo. i understand that i should be making a template, but i’m willing to try something else with ftp access instead. i am even considering using a cms to handle this.

what have you found works well?

I would suggest going with a web based application like campaign monitor or chimp mail or similar. it’s a lot of work to get everything right.

hi ralph, thanks for replying. what’s going on here is that every two weeks i send out a newsletter, but using my mail server we have to upload all images to the server. plus i like to include a link to view it on the web.

so basically every two weeks i am making a new site.

on the ftp it would look something like:

/2010
/jan
index.html
/images
   /midmonth
   index.html
     /images
/feb
  /midmonth
/march

…and so on

every time i go at this in DW i am always getting errors about the file structure with local and remote. it is very frustrating

thank you. there’s no budget for those services - but i know they are amazing. have tried out tools in both of them.

Hi mrtunes, could you explain a bit more clearly what you are trying to do? Are you just creating web pages, or emails? “Newsletter” usually means an email.

It doesn’t make sense that you are setting up separate sites. For what? You’d only do that if sending each newsletter to a separate domain.

I doubt Dw is the problem as it’s about the most versatile and powerful ftp program out there. I’d say it’s how you are going about it that’s not ideal. Perhaps a CMS would suit you better, but first just clarify as much as possible what you are trying to do and how you are doing it. :slight_smile:
