Local Network Server

I’ve got a local network of Mac’s set up in my office, and I’ve designated one of the machines to be the server (I don’t have access to Mac server OS).

My question is, is it possible to use the host file on the ‘server’ across all the networked Mac’s? I don’t really want to have to add all local hosts records on all the local machines.

Thanks

I believe by “hosts” you are trying to fake an internal dns setup? If that is the case you could install a simple DNS server on that ‘server’ machine and configure your client machiens to talk to that?

I shall have a look round for a suitable DNS server.

It’s amazing how tricky moving from windows to mac is!

Thanks
