Linking to backlink pages
Let’s say there is a page on my site with these links:
their site

their page containing my link on their site

What value is there in placing links on your site, to pages that contain your backlinks, giving two outbound links near one another? Does this create greater accessibility for search engines, a way to ‘bridge the loop’? Or is it merely done to help track who keeps your link on their site?

Without knowing what’s on the pages, what PR they have, what their content is about, how many other links are on the pages etc etc it’s impossible to say what effect the links may be having.

The one thing I can say for certain though is that what you’re creating are ‘reciprocal’ links and they’ll have little if any value for SEO because they’re reciprocal and if you have ‘excessive’ recip links it can actually hurt you. Google refrain from telling us what they consider ‘excessive’ but knowing them, it’s probably contextual and varies from site to site.

I would ask yorself the same question but do it from the point of view of your visitors, does it help them? If it does then it’s probably ok.

So we are getting back to the idea that having inbound links is favorable for SEO without returning the link, right?

Yet having certain valued outbound links can actually help a page.
(like a government authority site)

Well that’s true, no doubt about it. Google sees a reciprocal link and thinks ‘two friends helping each otehr out to spam our index’… especially if the sites aren’t context related and therefore the links can’t exist to help users on either of the sites. Even if they’re context related, the reciprocal bit just cancels out the incoming link and if you have too many, you start to look like a spammer too.

Links are VERY important in SEO.

Outbound links might add to your ‘quality score’ or whatever Google use to judge the quality (authority) of a site that isn’t the maths bit of the score, because they’re useful for your users …but… if all you had to do was have a ton of outgoing links to improve your rankings then everybody would be doing it and the interent would be spammed to death with outgoing links and Google would never encourage that behaviour so I doubt they help very much.

If inbound link having PR more than your existing page PR, It’s good for your page, otherwise your existing page PR will going to reduce. That inbound link will eat your Page :mrpac:PR
