I personally have not used LinkedIn before…sounds like a good site. I do wonder, however, if perhaps in the not-too-distant future the purpose behind LinkedIn will change completely. As it is an online community-oriented type of site, do you as a user believe this site will attract less professional-type people and turn into a site much like our friendly Facebook? What i like in LinkedIn is that i can check and update my profile or add some contact and connections as long as i want while in Facebook it was only focused on a current event and i feel guilty if you i don’t keep up on this.

it’s because on LinkedIn, you publish career relevant information and engage in skills & knowledge-based discussions. This makes it easier for recruiters to identify whether a person fits their person specifications, the most important aspect of recruitment.
Facebook on the other hand provides you an insight into the personality of a person. This is still important but not quite as much as the above.
