Well, Google themselves say this change will have minimal impact, and it will only affect one percent of searches (I’m going from memory; I’m not completely sure of that figure).
As far as I know, only the “above the fold” criterion is new; the other two on your list have always been relevant - to a greater or lesser extent.

I think the new above the fold rule is very good. Not only will it result in higher quality searches for users, but it will also devalue spammy paid footer links. I like the direction in which Google is moving, my hat is off to them
Yes, above the fold criteria is very good. Can anybody let me know when is the Google updating now?
yes above fold approach is good not sure what does it affect on adsense people, also any update whether it’s panda or any small updates done by google might be around quality content and avoiding link farms as I think of…
The update is already in force. But, for a given site, it will only take effect after the site has been re-crawled.
It is likely to have a negative effect for some AdSense publishers. If your pages have multiple large banner ads at the top of the page, then those pages will tend to rank less well in search results; that means less traffic and lower AdSense earnings.
But this will only affect a small number of publishers: those with particularly large amounts of space devoted to advertising above the fold. Google has said that it won’t affect a page with a single banner, for example.

There are more updates other than these.
1.Creating mobile version of websites.
2. Google Panda
3. Google merchant center for e commerce websites.
What does above the fold mean?
It refers to content that appears in the initial view of the page, ie without scrolling. Its origins are in printed media, when newspapers are printed and folded in half, the top half of the front page is all that’s immediately visible to prospective buyers, hence that content is “above the fold”. It’s always been seen as important to get the most attention-grabbing bits of your website to appear in the first screenful to give people the incentive to scroll down or click on. Of course, how you measure where “the fold” is given the proliferation of different sizes and shapes of screen these days is a very tricky question!
This tool will let you check how much of a given page is above the fold:
I believe other similar tools are available, but that’s the one I’ve used myself.

I bet everyone has heard of the “Search Plus Your World” update which includes what they call “personalized” search results. I remember coming across a blog, I just can’t remember where exactly that blog is, that mentioned seeing her private pictures on the search results. These appear when you’re logged in your Google account.
Another would be what most of the guys here have mentioned, the “above the fold” criterion. The first thing that actually crossed my mind here is that there are sites created by media giants that have more banners than actual content above the fold. It made me wonder what’s going to happen to their ranking. Any insights on this, guys?
Well, that’s an easy one to answer. Either they will redesign their pages, or their ranking will go down.
But keep it in perspective. As I said earlier, this “above the fold” thing is just one of many factors that affect the rankings. It will only have a significan effect in the more extreme cases.
