Large Background Image positioning

Hello,

I have a image at the size of 1750 x 1300 and I would like to use it as the background image for the body element.

The content of the page is 978px wide and is centered using margin:0 auto;

What CSS code needs to be implemented in order to have the content appearing always at the center of the image even if the window is smaller than 978px.

Thank you very much for your help.

body {
background: url(your-image.jpg) no-repeat 50% 0;
}

Should do what you are wanting. Be aware of the 1px BG image jog in IE6/7 though. If it has to line up with a BG image on your wrapping div there will be instances where it is 1px off in IE.

See the FAQ for the IE workarounds if needed.
