A friend of mine just today got his laptop stolen.
It was a $2000 macbook pro so its a pretty big f***ing deal now that its gone.
Anyways, as a future precaution for myself, I was wondering that is there a small tracking device that I can buy that I can attach onto my own laptop so that in the event of a theft I can track where its going.
I had my labtop stolen and it was in a room that was supose to be monitored
but it was taken anyway so i am going to get another one, I heard of tracking software but it only works when its turned on they need something that will track while it’s is turned off so you can track it , I think the key for the fastest recovery if you can track it while it’s turned off.
I was watching one of the “super cop” shows recently and P-Diddy’s laptop was stolen, but they found it within the hour Though the show might have encompassed several days. Since the “super cops” never get a day off (or sleep) it is hard to tell sometimes.
I know this is an old thread but I wanted to make sure you were aware of the opensource project called adeona http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/
Think lojack for your laptop.
