Jquery banner + dropdowns + z-index not working = headache

I’m having an issue with a Wordpress website that is utilizing both superfish dropdowns and a jquery cycle banner. Independently both these elements are working fine, however when put together something is going haywire.

The z-index of the slides is 1 and 2 (as set by jquery).
The z-index of the dropdown is set to 99 at the first ul level.

If you put the cursor over About and wait for the cycle, the dropdown is hidden for the first slide but you’ll see it when it cycles to the second slide. Then it goes back to being hidden again… and so on.

I’m really at my wits end on this one and could use some help. :frowning:

The z-index is relative to other objects within the parent.

Change the z-index of the header like this and it will work:

#header {
z-index: 999;
}
