IT job prospects by geography

I’m currently in Massachusetts, which is great for IT – but it also means a lot of competition for web application developers like me. High cost of living too. So I am taking a look around. One place I am thinking of it Florida. Thing is, I can’t find any state-to-state metric of job prospects, like a cost of living calculator. City Data only has very high level abstract stats. Anybody know of good tools for web devs looking to move?

Maybe you could try mining American Community Survey data?

B24011e6 OCCUPATION BY MEDIAN EARNINGS IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (IN 2015 INFLATION-ADJUSTED DOLLARS) FOR THE CIVILIAN EMPLOYED POPULATION 16 YEARS AND OVER: Management, business, science, and arts occupations: Computer, engineering, and science occupations: Civilian employed population 16 years and over with earnings

Thank you; good resource.
