Is this possible with php?

Hi all
I have a form on my site that asks for a reference number. I would like to check if this number already exists. This can be done manually in an external webpage. Is there anyway to send the value to the page automatically to receive the data? There is no webservice on the external site.
Thank you

How do you check the reference number on the external site? Is it a form? Or a special URL?

A one field form, you enter the number, press send and it gives you the results

Yes, this is possible, and without PHP.

First, go on the external site and view source. Look for the form that is submitting the result and look for the variable name of the <input> that you type the number into.
Second, look where the data is POSTing to (or GETing).

Next, on your site make a form like so and replace the action with the same as the external site form, make sure the method is set the same and then make sure the name for the text input is the same.

<form action="example.com" method="post">
	<input type="text" name="same_as_external_site" value="" />
	<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>

I tried using the action url (xxxx.jsf) but it seems they use sessions so not possible unfortunately. Thanks anyway!

I’ve just got in contact with them to see if I can buy the information or connect via a webservice
