You have to be logged in to see the sig links on Sitepoint and search engines can’t log in. It’s done on purpose to prevent link drop spam.

The signature links are backlinks. They can be followed by humans (logged in members) - the purpose and intent of backlinks. Too many seo-kiddie forum members couldn’t get it, thinking that they would help SERPs, so they continued to make fluff posts and link SPAM. Now the sig links are not visible to bots.

Technically yes, but in the context of his question “is that count as a backlink in google or other search engines” then they’re not.
Since we don’t want to encourage spammers, maybe a better way to phrase it might be that the sig links ‘can be followed by humans but not search engines’ but not call them backlinks.
