Is running the NS3 software on a ubuntu installed on the Vmware a good idea on a laptop with core M?

I have recently purchased a Haier Y11b laptop. It has a 64GB SSD, 500GB HHD, 4GB RAM, Windows 10 pro, but an intel core M as processor. I need to do some heavy work on the NS-3 simulator, which is very heavy and slow. For running the NS-3 i need to install the Vmware and Ubuntu on Windows in this core M laptop. My question is, should I do it? Will NS-3 work on this laptop? will it be running very slow? is 4GB RAM enough? Overall, is it a good idea? I need a comparison analysis against the HP 14R laptop which has 8GB RAM, and Core i5. I know the Core i5 is way way better than the core M laptop. But I need to know that can i still work on the core M laptop and get good results (not very intense waiting time) by running the NS-3 on core M? I need this laptop as a backup and a portable alternative for the other core i5 laptop.
