I started a mailing list for my site and use it monthly.
My only source of income is adverts and with a CPM of about $2 now I’m close to outgrowing mail chimp free as getting close to 2000 members. It really doesn’t seem worth paying $30 a month for something that at the moment is bringing around 300 clicks to my site a month. So for my list I’m making around 66c.
Am I doing something wrong with my strategy or is it clearly not worth it?
What is your site for? And what is your main goal for your site?
If you answered those questions, I could better answer your question. I believe that a mailing list is a great idea to let your members know about you and your brand (even though you aren’t necessarily selling to them) so you aren’t doing anything wrong! It’s just a matter of if you are willing to pay to show your members free content or not.
All in all, I do believe it would be worth it. Hope this helps!
