Is it possible to override an astricks selector

I am using the magento shopping cart and it uses unorder lists so much in through the application, that I have to pretty much disable the list style type everywhere. And its tedious to try to go all over the application searching for unorder list just to set its style tyle to none. so I do the following.

* {
list-style-type:none;
}

The problem is that the cms static pages picks up on this and all created list do not show bullets.

My question is…

Is it possible to override a astricks selector in particular areas ???

Yes you can override it by resetting the list-style on whichever ul/ol you want.

If I were going to null out my default list-styles I would just use ul,ol instead of the universal selector. It’s kinda silly to force the browsers to process every element when only ul,ol have default list-styles.

This should work just fine and you can zero out the default margin, padding while your at it.

ul,ol {
margin:0;
padding:0;
list-style:none;
}

Then just reset what is needed from there.

It’s called the universal selector and if you zero out margins and paddings with it there are some form elements that you can never override. It’s best to stay away from it and just style as you go when browser defaults cause problems with your page.
