Is having a file extension better for SEO?

I’m wondering which one of the following two examples is better for SEO:

Please advise. Thanks.

Neither has any SEO benefit.

Search engines will not look better on you for including a file extension. They couldn’t care less what technology is powering your site, they just look at what is served up.

If you can do away with file extensions, it’s good practice to do that - first, it means that your URL structure is not tied to the technology, so if you did then switch over to .php or anything else, your URLs won’t need to be re-written - second, it’s easier for people to type in if they don’t have to remember which file extension you’ve used.
