I am quite new to web building, infact this is my first ever web page which I created with html & CSS.
Can anybody tell how you get the CSS to load with the html files? The page display’s on the web but its un-styled. I have contacted ipage but the customser service agent explained he could only help me if it was an issue with in-house drag and drop site builder and had no experiance with html???
Should I be using a different ftp client instead of the ipage file manager, if so which is best?
I don’t know anything about ipage, never having used them. Are you sure you’ve linked to your stylesheet correctly in the head of your HTML document? One wee typo is all it takes to screw things up. (Voice of experience there.)
Yeah! everything works fine on my pc, I just uploaded the same files! I have ran the CSS through the W3C Validator and there’s no errors! The site is showing on the domain but un-styled. Just wondering if there’s something else I need to do differently for CSS?
Try entering the address of the css file in your browser and see if it appears. e.g. www.yourdomain.com/styles.css, or whatever the correct path should be. If you see the file, you’ll at least know it’s where it should be.
Thanks for your assistance and bearing with a mere novice! Just work out the on my pc I had the file save as “style.css.html” and by removing the html (e.g. “style.css”) seems to have resolved the issue
