Intrinsic and extrinsic images sizes

Hi from 29 Degrees C York UK.

When inspect image elements on websites with code inspector i get an intrinsic and extrinsic value. For example on this site: https://html5up.net/future-imperfect when i inspect the large rectangular images in the left column i get:
700 x 284 (intrinsic 840 x 341 px)

My question is… What is the original image size / true value of these assets before css modifies them?

Thanks in advance,
David

Hey David

If you open the image in a new tab https://html5up.net/uploads/demos/future-imperfect/images/pic01.jpg it seems to be 840 x 341.

Yes the intrinsic value displayed is the original image size.
