Installing DOM on Debian

Hello all,

I tried posting this on the regular PHP forum but no one could help me there, so I’m giving it a shot here:

I’m running a PHP site on a server and started using DOM XML (The old version, not the one that ships with PHP5) however it turns out that the server doesn’t support the DOM XML.

I asked the system admin to install it but he tried something that didn’t quite work, any ideas how he should install DOMXML on a Debian machine?

This is what my localhost says: (and what I want installed on the server)
domxml
DOM/XML enabled
DOM/XML API Version 20020815
libxml Version 20511
HTML Support enabled
XPath Support enabled
XPointer Support enabled
DOM/XSLT enabled
libxslt Version 1.0.33
libxslt compiled against libxml Version 2.5.11

Thanks

For a debian machine with PHP installed via apt-get you need to install the php-domxml (and preferably the php-xslt module too).

This can be done using

  apt-get install php-domxml

If it’s compiled from scratch you need to get them to install the libxml2 library, then re-configure PHP with the additional ‘–with-dom’ flag.

Hope that helps,
Harry

Thanks… I’ll tell him that
