I worked with Infolinks from June 2009 to now, but I have never received payment from Infolinks, although my balance is more than $250.
My earning for June 2009 - September 2009 is approximately $200, and they did not issue to me in 11/16/2009,beside they said:they were sent out the payment and my paypal account has denied the payment.
But in this date and there after dates, I received some payments from other companies, those are ok, no problems with my paypal account.
And today, I tried sending and receiving with my paypal account before I post this thread to Sitepoint.It’s still ok.
Can anyone give me an answer?
Have you filled out and sent them the necessary tax form? They will not send your first payment until they get the tax form but they will not actually ask you for the form. Once you send the tax form then the end of the following month they will pay.
Tax ID is required for US tax purposes only. If you are a citizen or have a business in the US, you are required to file any earnings you make. If you are a non-US customer, then you are not required to fill that part of the form.
They did not ask me about tax form, Im not an us-citizen. They always ask me to contact paypal and ask paypal why the payment has been denied.
This problem is delay of payment.And now, I requested changing to another paypal account.But dont have any response.
Dear felgall,
After I check again emails I sent to Infolinks support, I sent them my W-8BEN form for non-us citizen into 10/17/2009.
Today, I see this payment is rollover to 12/15/2009.
Can anyone tell me why?
Delay…and…delay
I don’t think they are a scam, but they state that they give more money than kontera (that’s their motto it seems) and I didn’t see that backed up by facts. Only their saying.
Hi
This is Shay from Infolinks.
Infolinks is the leading in-text advertising provider and isn’t a scam at all.
Infolinks takes pride in leading the industry with the most attractive business model and being selected again and again as the highest paying in-text provider!
Lainn I checked your account with our support team and they told me that from some reason PayPal rejected your payment request. Your new PayPal account was updated in our system and your payment should be issued by December 1st. I am sorry for the inconvenient and I please don’t hesitate to contact us with any further questions you may have.
Have a great day!
Shay
Hello Shay, WHO EXACTLY is selecting Infolinks as the highest paying in-text provider?
I see on your site:
What is the special “Infolinks Highest Revenue Share Guarantee”?
As a leading provider of In-Text Advertising worldwide, we are so confident that Infolinks will increase your advertising revenues, that we actually guarantee the industry’s highest revenue share in your contract.
What is exactly this guarantee? Are they just words? There’s a difference between our advertising revenues and your revenue share. It’s not because you grant us (as you imply) a higher revenue share than your competitors that our advertising revenues will be higher. Simply because perhaps advertisers pay their ads much higher price on your competitor’s network.
So WHAT EXACTLY does your guarantee mean?
Hello James,
Thanks for asking!
Thousands of publisher tested our service and compared it to our competitors. And the results show the same thing every time:
With the combination of the following factors, we simply get the best results In-Text can bring:
- Our large variety of high quality ads with great ppc,
- Our smart and fast algorithm which selects the most valuable contextual keywords in every page and gets the highest CTRs.
- We pay the industry’s highest revenue share.
I suggest you simply test us with a one week trial and see the great results for yourself.
I hope I clarified this question for you, and I am happy to assist you with any further question you have.
Good Day,
Shay
That’s what I’m going to do, I’ve just registered to infolinks and will do an A/B testing for a week on my site, exactly 50% for kontera and infolinks and I’ll tell you the results.
That is their next scheduled payment date. They usually pay about two weeks before each scheduled date. They don’t make exceptions for where you missed a payment date due to not supplying the tax form in time. I had the same problem with all the delays getting my first payment from them but did receive it when they did their next payment run.
I signed up yesterday, put the code, and waited but today I received an email saying my site wasn’t fit for their program.
This very same site is fit enough for adsense, for chitika and kontera, but not for infolinks.
So I guess I’m not going to report any result on my A/B testing, Kontera wins by default!
Hi Shay,
I have just got the payment.
Again, thanks you so much.
Hello James
Our support team approves only websites with certain amount of original text which is able to be monetized with in-text ads. Being an honest company we prefer not to approve sites with small amount of text and mostly links or videos, which will yield extremely low revenues.
I’ll appreciate if you can send me your website’s URL or just specific sections of your website in which you are interested in adding in text ads and I’ll have our support team have another look at it.
Anyway your A/B test is a good challenge for us and we would like you to proceed with that with any websites of yours which can carry in text ads.
Good Day,
Shay
Hello Shay, the site I’ve submitted is:
http://shetoldme.com it still has the infolinks code in the pages as required in the signup process, I replied to the infolinks email this morning quite harshly because they said:
“We have reviewed both of your websites; Our quality assurance team found that the web sites do not contain enough text for our algorithm to work properly. This means that we will not be able to monetize your websites properly and to get you enough revenue.”
Firstly I only submitted one site, so I doubt the time being spend on my application. And it has textual content since I don’t accept scoop pages (submitted by users) with less than 200 characters description. So it means most scoop pages have more than 200 but none have less.
So my idea was to display infolinks and kontera on scoop pages such as:
http://shetoldme.com/Health/Older-people-who-walk-slowly-three-times-as-likely-to-die-from-heart-problems
where there is at the very least 200 characters form the description, and on listing pages such as:
http://shetoldme.com/Politics
and even tags pages where also scoops are listed.
So yes, there isn’t a lot of text on each page, but it’s enough for kontera (had to ask them to add my site) and it’s ok for chitika and adsense (didn’t have to ask but they display related ads that get clicked everyday)
But if it’s true that as is being said in the email that your algorithm cannot work properly on a minimum of 200 meaningful characters, then I don’t want to force it at all, it was just an experiment I wanted to do.
Dear James ,
Thank you for your detailed post.
I have forwarded this case to our Customer Satisfaction Manager who investigated what happened here.
According to her, the team made some errors during your approval process, and your site should have been approved immediately. It is now approved and ready to work with Infolinks. She also mentioned that this case will be a case study for her team.
I apologize for the confusion with the approval process of your website and I hope that now you will be able to proceed with your experiment.
Thank you again for challenging us and have a great day!
Shay

Thank you Shay for your intervention, I’ve received the email saying my site has been approved, I installed the code now, as well as Kontera (50% A/B testing, never at the same time on a page)
Kontera indicates that their ads will show up 24hours after the code has been installed. Infolinks is already showing ads.
I’ll report first results next week.
As a side note for those interested in trying Infolinks, there’s advanced settings detailled in the Integration guide. In particular you can help Infolinks to target ads to your content by setting the infolink_cat variable, the categories available are:
Arts
Automotive
Business
Computers
Games
Health
Home
Kids & Teens
News
Recreation
Reference
Science
Shopping
Society
Sports
So, in my site I have several categories, not all the same as Infolinks’ so to establish a relationship between my content pages and infolinks category I use the URL to check for the presence of a keyword (in PHP the url is available at $_SERVER[“REQUEST_URI”])
So for an url such as http://shetoldme.com/Sports/How-To-Punch-Hard-and-Fast the corresponding php line that will be activated is:
if (strpos($_SERVER[“REQUEST_URI”],“ports”)) echo “var infolink_cat = ‘Sports’;”;
Here’s the complete code I’ve used for infolinks:
<?php if ($myTextAds == "infolinks") {
// infolinks ?>
<script type="text/javascript">
var infolink_pid = 49501;
var infolink_wsid = 0;
var infolink_link_color = '1b81ca';
var infolink_title_color = '1b81ca';
var infolink_text_color = '333333';
var infolink_ad_link_color = '1b81ca';
<?php
// can we specify a category to help target ads?
// Keywords not from SheToldMe's categories
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"child")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Kids & Teens';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"kid")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Kids & Teens';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"teen")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Kids & Teens';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"arts")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Arts';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"music")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Arts';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"paint")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Arts';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"car")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Automotive';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"computer")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Computers';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"netbook")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Computers';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"laptop")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Computers';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"home")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Home';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"reference")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Reference';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"recreation")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Recreation';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"fun")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Recreation';";
if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]),"society")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Society';";
// Keywords from SheToldMe's categories
if (strpos($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"],"usiness")) echo "var infolink_cat = 'Business';";

<?php } ?>
Actually in my experience infolinks performed atleast 20% better for me as compared to Kontera. I had been using Kontera for a few years before I switched to Infolinks (about a year ago…). They’ve been quite consistent with their performance, rates and payout. Just my experience.
I guess this kind of thing is also subjective in that sometimes a particular network might be able to sell more keywords related to a specific niche and thus perform better for that website. However, across the board, Infolinks has been better than Kontera for me.
waiting for the result…
OK, I have seven days of data. Although Kontera says that results may not reflect the real performance of their ads before 2 weeks and the fact that I used Infolinks parameters to help it target ads (via categories as shown above).
But Kontera doesn’t offer the ability to help them target ads, and infolinks doesn’t say that they need 2 weeks before showing their full potential.
So… from tuesday 24th november to monday 30th november:
Infolinks: 19,443 impressions, 246 clicks (1.29% CTR) makes $35.34 ($1.82 eCPM) so it is a CPC of $0.14
Kontera: 7,699 impressions, 132 clicks (1.71% CTR) makes $7.14 ($0.93 eCPM) so it is a CPC of $0.05
I don’t know why there are so few impressions with Kontera since I made an exact 50/50 between both services. From my log data, Infolinks reflects the true traffic, Kontera underestimates it.
I made the links look exactly the same, double underlined with blue color.
So Infolinks wins by 5 times more. I don’t look at CTR, CPC or eCPM, I look directly at earnings, and it’s 35 for infolinks against 7 for kontera.
I’ll let the experiment run during december and will report for this month in january 2010. The problem is I’ve now submitted more sites to infolinks and will use it on them, so I have to check that I can see reports for a specific site and not only global report.
