Umm, i guess that you guys DELETED my reply? Because i’m not a mod, here, it doesn’t count?
are you sure you hit post?
You know what, i MIGHT be having a case of complete amnesia… I could have swore i posted a repy to this a while back; i MUST have, because i was subscribed to it, and just now got a notification of a new reply…
who knows…
It may very well be and it may got deleted. There are few reasons for that and none of those have anything to do with being a mod or not.
If anything, you will have to blame me, because I was the one that deleted your post.
Fluff - it does not add anything new or only repeats what has been said before or even was non-related to the topic in discussion
Spam or self-promotion - you linked to your own site or a site that you were related to.
promoting other site that it is no good - this was your case. I checked the link you posted and simply, there were no threads, it was an empty forum. At least, the webmaster area that you pointed so kindly.
Ahhh, i remember this now. I posted a link to MY site, and because i recommended it MYSELF, instead of some STRANGER recommending it, it was considered “spam”. That’s like saying i can’t tell you how to cure aids, because i invented the method, and it would be spam. If someone asks a question, and you provide an answer, you should be able to GIVE it to them.
As far as the empty forum category: you’ve got to start somewhere. That guy wanted a place to ask questions, so i gave him one. What a better place to ask questions that on a website with Linux Server Administration Gurus, etc?
Anyway, now that i recall, i’m aggravated again, so i’m unsubscribing from this so that this doesn’t happen again.
If you have a problem with moderation or your use of the forums, please pm a moderator or HAWK, the forum administrator or use the Support forum to air your complaint. As for this thread, please keep it on topic in answer to the OP’s question.
Actually, this forum is for Social Network owners as well as their users.
That WAS on topic, or are YOU not following the topic?
Here’s a brief summary of this topic, in case you missed it:
- A guy asked a question
- I gave a reply
- it got deleted
- I got a notification of a reply
- I made a comment to show my confusion as to what happened to my previous reply
- a moderator referenced a my reply as spam, thus changing the direction of the topic
- i voiced my opinion on such, which, at this point, IS on-topic.
So what you’re actually SAYING, is that mods can say something to YOU in a topic, but YOU cannot say something in RETURN. You have to nod your head without reply. And you cannot DEFEND your OWN ACTIONS.
So, as far as the next visitor is concerned, whatever the mod said you were doing, you must have been doing. I’m not on that. You call me spam, publicly, and i WILL defend myself, publicly.
You’ve got 2 choices: don’t call me a spammer in public; or BAN ME.
And what is an O.P.?
OP = Original Post/Poster
Thank you. Now, i’ll let this whole thing drop, and unsubscribe, and try to forget it.
Since it was only a question, although the question was not on topic, I answered here. Yet, as a reminder to everyone, I do suggest that you read the faqs and guidelines of the forum because these are the rules we all have to abide for.
You can find a link that read “faqs” in the menu just underneath the breadcrum, or in my link if you find it easier.
The rule that says that you cannot link to your own site in a post has been around for years.
Sorry, but I agree with Shyflower. Your complaint is not the topic of this thread. If you want me to move your post to SitePoint Forums support, I will be more than happy too.
Now, let´s go back to the original conversation
I have moved these posts to this thread so that the Original Poster in the original thread might get some answers to his question.
