Improve Ranking on certain Keywords

Hi,

My client has good google ranking on one or two keywords. However, the other keywords are ranked way down the list.

How do I improve this? Unfortunately there is not much content as mainly images displaying products.
Site is built using XHTML/CSS and compliant to latest web standards.

So not sure what else I can do.

Thanks.

The first thing to do is to get some content in there. Ideally, if the images are images of text, replace them text, and you’ll get all sorts of benefits as well as improved search visibility. If that isn’t an option then look at how you can add suitable alt text to the images to describe them.

Add his site on directory’s … post some press release and this should help you …

Besides adding content, I would recommend you to add the images to Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing to promote with keyword. You may create videos of those images as well and promote them as video marketing. You can create free videos at [url=http://animoto.com/]Animoto - Video Slideshow Maker with Music.

It depends what you’re promoting on your site. If you are trying to attract people to read your text content then improving your visibility in image searches won’t help you - people doing an image search are unlikely to be interested in the content of your site, they’re just looking for images. So yes, you might get more hits, but it’s unlikely to translate into any improvements in the metrics you’re targeting.

Likewise, video marketing only makes sense in certain sectors - for most websites, it’s going to be pretty irrelevant. Nielsen summarised it nicely in Talking head video is boring* … realistically, most sites aren’t going to have the budget for a good video clip. But cheaply and badly done video clips aren’t going to attract anyone, and if you promote them on your site at the expense of your actual valuable content, you’re likely to lose visitors.

Off Topic:

* Not to be confused of course with Talking Heads’ video, which is utterly bizarre but definitely not boring!

yes…add some content and optimize the images with Alt tags…also do some extensive offpage activities with the major keywords as the anchor texts…
