One month ago I had installed forum but since than nobody registers or writes anything.
The site in general has quite many (about 500 a day) visitors. There’re some created topics for a start…
What can I do to start the discussion?
Write some topics yourself.
Brand new forums are always slow to get going.
A good way to get people interested is to start a few threads yourself to stir up conversation. Also, if your site is a type that allows, do things that have users asking questions and aim them towards your forums to answer them.

write some good, relevant and interesting topics that will keep your visitors and get them to interact.
Don’t stop posting new, relevant threads. If your forum has a general discussion area, make sure you cover a wide area of discussionary topics. Make sure to keep posting new articles, news updates, media relevant topics etc.
Just keep posting and spreading the word via directories, friends, Facebook/twitter etc and don’t give up. Good luck

always try to find some hot and interesting topics don’t stick to only one vertical 
Hire a forum poster, pay someone to start putting content on your forum. No one will post the first forum, you have to do that yourself or pay someone to get it going.
Once you have some posts, and people will come and start posting you might consider to hire a moderator if you dont have the time to look at all the posts yourself.
A forum need maintenace allways
What is your forum all about? Just continue creating new topic on it and maybe I think it is not yet known to everyone. You should bookmark your forum sites and broadcast to everyone on social networking sites.
In this regard you can yourself put some discussion topic and get the people opinion about it.
I hope that his forum has got underway since last November.
