Iframe scrolling behind popup

Hi,

I have the following page:

http://findabb.com/llr/url/test-popup-2/

As you can see, there is a popup box and behind that there is the iframe (full window) which shows another website. When the popup is displayed, the website in the iframe doesn’t scroll down. I was wondering if there is a solution for that. Is it possible?

Thanks for any ideas.

What do you mean by scroll down? Do you mean that you can’t scroll the page while the popup is there? Why would you need to? Anyhow, you can scroll the page while the popup is there on an iPad.

Pop ups like this are pretty awful, BTW.

Yes, Ralph. I mean I can’t scroll the iframe content while the popup is there. Just trying to figure out is it is possible or not. Would you prefer another type of popup or are you against all types of popups?

Hm, I’m on the iPad at the moment and the scrolling works fine.

Pop ups are just annoying and won’t win you any friends. That’s my attitude. Just as people are now conditioned to ignore noisy sidebars that are usually packed with ads, I’m sure most people are just conditioned to closing pop ups without taking any notice of them. Often I visit a site for the first time and the first thing I see is a popup wanting me to subscribe or something. Are they joking? Why would anyone sign up to something that they don’t even know anything about? It’s crazy. A better approach is to offer really useful content, and then at the end invite visitors to sign up to something that will make it easy for them to get more good content.

Thank you for the feedback and your opinions Ralph.

I have the following page:

The page is now password protected so can’t be accessed.

Do you still need help?

Sorry, the password is removed now. Yes, I am still trying to figure out if what I want to do is possible or not.

If I understand you correctly then you just need to move the overlay away from the scrollbar which can be done like this:

#popup-outer {
width:auto!important;
left:0;
right:18px;
}

Paul, thank you very much! I think this is the only solution to this. I see the scrollbar now and it scrolls down using the cursor but it doesn’t scroll with the mousewheel. I think it is acceptable enough. Thank you!

For very modern browsers you could add pointer-events:none but check that you can still click your popup if needed.

#popup-outer {
width:auto!important;
left:0;
right:18px;
pointer-events:none;
}

Thank you very much Paul! That did the trick.
