You are better off using WordPress MU if the students needs blogs because Google Apps do not have a blogging capability. Apps come with Sites but they are static.
A long time ago I came across this one: http://siteatschool.org/
Don’t know if it is still being developed, and I don’t know if it works well. The site looks very out of date
But, it says it does some of the things you’re looking for. So you might want to check it out.
I know there are others I use, I just can’t remember what they are off hand. I had to do some customizing for some, so they won’t be of any use to you.
Anyway, if you don’t want all the work that goes along with WP, I suggest Google Apps for Schools.
i was want google apps : there is no free. i must to pay. But i want to go
wordpress MU i still this error:
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'wp-includes/wp-db.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php') in /home/vhosts/djilal.eu5.org/wordpress-mu/index-install.php on line 433
i enabled wordpress MU but i want to have look like Blogger (create blog, create account, etc.)
wath can i do
i attached the picture of the blog
thanks,
If you are starting a blog for users to have their own blog, you need to really understand how WordPress works, have some understanding of the design aspect of it as well as have some knowledge of PHP so that you can support them if problems arise. Without at least a working knowledge these things, you are at a disadvantage and it could end up hurting you and your users in the long run.
That being said, here is a short list with lots of good stuff packed into them about working with WordPress, running a WPMU community, customizing your registration page, and more:
The WordPress Codex
- Probably the single most important thing to have on hand when working with indepth wordpress issues
My delicious.com bookmarks tagged as wordpress
- a little lengthy and jumbled but there are still lots of good stuff out there that I’ve found, but can’t remember, which is why I bookmark!
