HTML Suggestions - Google Webmaster Tools Help

Hello All,

I logged in to my Google Webmasters Account this morning and checked the Diagnostics Page.

When I clicked on the HTML Suggestions link, i got a lot of Duplicate title tags Suggestions.

How do I see to it that such a thing never happens.

I have attached a screes shot of the same.

Thanks in advance,
Nuk.

I agree with Hyena, most of your issues seem to be pagination related. I’d recommend reading the following two posts/resources:

2nd point i’d make is that it appears that the pagination is mostly occurring on comments - if this is the case then these are very low-value pages in terms of content. I’d consider canonicalizing paginated comment pages to your main article page (don’t canonicalize articles that are paginated).

When i saw your screen shot i found that you gave a single title to three page. Make title tag as unique. You will never face the problem again.

Most of the duplicates you’ve shown there are due to pagination.

So I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Google will recognise that your pages (page-2, page-3, etc) with the same title are just extra pages of the same topic or section. Worst case is those extra pages might be filtered out of the results.

If you want to fix it up, a simple way is to get your paginated pages to include the page number in the title, therefore each will be unique.
