my .htaaccess file does not work how to do that

@jargonbust: HOw is your web server? Apace with PHP or suPHP?

jargon,

First, check the spelling of .htaccess.

Second, was it uploaded as a TEXT file via FTP?

Third, there are still a few hosts who will not allow you to access .htaccess. I ALWAYS check that to be sure I can control my websites.

Finally, how do you know it isn’t working? As I whined for many years, SHOW YOUR CODE!
