Howsing.com, howtosing.info or howtosing.org

  • All three domains and the keywords and the stats below are made up, but are similar to the actual domain/keywords I want to register. The three domains listed are already registered and I haven’t done any research on those, so please advise based on the info I have provided, and the way the keywords appear in the domain, rather than the actual domain names listed.

I’m expecting nearly all traffic to come from search engines as I don’t plan to use AdWords or any other marketing (this is just a simple idea for me to try out some SEO skills and monitor the results, nothing too serious).

I have done some basic research on this. Which should I register and use? (if you say all of them then please give a priority order)

  • remember figures don’t apply to the domains below, they apply to the actual domains/keywords I want to register, but take below as an exercise as though these were the figures/keywords. Answering this will help me make a decision.

(1) howsing.com

I suppose the key thing is how important is .com over .info and .org?

Search engines pay no attention to the word “to” or other common stop words. Your domain will not influence this at all. Nor will the TLD (.com, .info, .org) search engines don’t care.

howtosing.org seems like a viable option to me. It would be a great idea to use .org if you plan to start this on a larger scale. In case you start it on a small scale, you could scale up by partnering with people who can contribute to your site. And i don’t think its a good idea to exclude stop words because as the search engines evolve they are trying to consider even stop words.

Search engines will ignore the word “do” found within the domain name. I would go for howtosing.org, since it’s a little more natural for the visitor than “how sing”. “how sing” is a word combination which immediately makes me think of someone who know very little English (therefore I’m unconsciously associating it with spammy content).

It depends on whether you aim for local or global visitors of your site.
