Exactly the same way as any other website (read the orange ‘sticky’ threads for general advice), with the point that you must make sure all content can be accessed without Javascript being even more important. That isn’t to say you shouldn’t be using AJAX, but that you should always have an alternative way to get to the content, otherwise there is a strong chance that search engines won’t find that content.
While I agree in principle with StevieD, there are particular issues with getting some AJAX (in the true sense of the acronym, not just DOM effects) content indexed.
