How to Hire a Web Designer

I disagree with the money back guarantee. We’re not selling juicers. Just as there are rogue designers there are rogue customers as well. Beware. You want to attract clients that are to you attractive.

Hireling web developers though Internet is very very dangerous tasks. Some are take advantage of some service system like Guru.com. Most designers ask progress payment and they tells you for sure they can complete your website ideas. I had very clear specifications and hired three different web developers though Guru.com. They all failed my project. The first one asked me upfront payment and I trusted him and made $400.00 based on $700.00 bid. At the first he showed me some graphic work after then he just disappeared. I told Guru.com and ask about him and wanted my money back. Guru.com simply told me that I got screwed. LOL (not exactly they told me this way but it sound like I got screwed)

See there is no protection for buyers but not provider. The only way buyer protection is that make a payment after projects are completed and tested with no error. That’s only way to protect buyers. If you are web developer and expecting to get payed upfront… may be… but, that way soon or later, you guys will not have any job for you. Because, who has money? If you want to get the money then prove your skills first.
Sorry, about my English, I hope this article can list in your comment area. Please… I want people can read my case and learn what to do when they need to hire web developers.

Thanks…

Besides referrals, where does one get a list of web developers without sorting and searching ad nauseam?

When you chweck our portfolios we design the client’s site to THEIR style and specs, so don’t judge the designer’s work to criticaly

Mike is absolutely right, most freelance sites are now a day’s low quality and cheap designer, programmer heaven. Always try with referred companies OR can contact directly to big companies portfolio sites and ask their opinion on that design or programming company.

Me personally I would say one of the best web designer right now is Joseph at in-view systems.

There really should be a list of all the designers out there and a rateing system for them.

And I also believe the better web designer’s can not always be judged on their portfolio alone because they only do what suits their customer the best.

I thought the article was great and very accurate.

I noticed some of the other designers saying that you can’t always judge because its what the client wants. Personally I wouldn’t ever accept a project that I don’t think I would be proud to put my name on the bottom of. It kind of like being an actor. You are judged by the roles that you accept and that is simply the way of the industry.

Excellent article. I would like to add that an online presence can help transform your business remarkably and the first step for that successful transformation is getting a professional website developed for your business or company.

The popularity of web has increased manifold in the last few years and there are a large number of Web Designers available for hire in every country/ region. However, as the author rightly points out - most of these are just graphic designers rather than true web designers. An authentic web designer whom you hire should not only be able to do graphic design, he/ she should also be proficient in web programming, have a good understanding of animation and SEO.

A web designer should be able to add considerable business value to your website with his SEO inputs. The portfolio of any web designer can give you a fair idea of the kind of websites designed by them. Stay away from amateurs/ geeks who can do just programming or design - that wouldn’t add any value to your website.

Instead, chose a professional web designer with a showcased portfolio spanning web programming (PHP, CSS, xHTML), logo and graphic design and inbound link development to get maximum benefits.

Hello
It is a Amazing tips.
keep on sharing

Most important quality to find in a Designer is reliability. It doesnt matter how good they are, if you cant rely on them to get things done on time, it doesnt matter.

Budget plays huge in terms of designing
Thanks
