Think about it. There are something like 700 million websites out there. They all want to be number one. The chances of there being no-one else targeting the same keywords as you is so small as to be non-existent (unless you're targeting keywords that no-one out there would ever be interested in search for). But there's only one number one. So for any given query, there are going to be hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions of sites that don't get to number one.
Do you think it's going to be easy to get a top spot? If so, try again. It isn't. The only way to get to the top of the search results is by having a damn good website. Sure, there are things that you can do to help it along, and even having a damn good website is no guarantee that you will be anywhere near the top, but without a damn good website you have not got a chance. Google has been playing this game for longer than you have, and is much smarter than you are. You won't beat them by trying to get around their rules, so don't waste your time trying.
But recently one SEO firm has said that it will guarantee first page ranking of our website in one. Can they be trusted? How?

Sorry, the mention of "SEO firm" and "trusted" always makes me laugh.
No, if they are guaranteeing you first page ranking for your choice of search word/phrase then they are either (a) lying, if they promise you that you will get there and stay there, or (b) committing financial suicide, if they're offering you refund/compensation for not meeting those goals.
