How to do seo linkbuilding for clients of big corp companies?

hey all,
i fully comprehend most of the techniques in SEO but what still confuses me is link building campaign. from all the seo books i read about being a competent seo freelancer is the importance of executing a link building campaign - inbound & outbounds.

but im confused on how seo freelancers perform link building campaigns for clients who are SMEs or big companies. Do you actually setup a page and list out links to reciprocate/exchange with the other party that you negotiate about exchanging links?

This is because i have never seen any link list pages (eg. wordpress blogrolls) on any corporate websites that i have browsed through. I feel having those link pages publicly visible on a corporate website does not give a professional feel on it (my 2cents).

does seo freelancers actually ‘hide’ the link list page using .htaccess or folder locks? can Search engine still index and crawl them when they were hidden? (correct me). what is the right way of doing link buidling campaign for corporate companies who wanted to get a good & pure seo boost?

Directory submission, Classified, forum posting are most useful activities that you can do.

I’m not a big fan of reciprocal linking but it would depend on the industry and the way that the recips are placed on your site. Think more about providing resources useful to your site visitor than reciprocal link(s) pages.

Resources page(s) with reciprocal links to genuinely valuable content to your site visitor combined with other non recip links that offer value would seem to be the best way to go.

Bottom line you could probably find better ways to spend your time than running a recip link campaign.

This is not an ethical method both in terms of your link partners and the search engines.

you can find directories online both free or paid - the paid one is much more reliable though and complete while the free list is not much, but still they have the same list
or you can interact with other SEO people and get more information - they are nice

hope this helps

Any page that an unauthenticated user (ie, not logged in) can see, Googlebot can see - and vice versa. The exception there is if you use CSS to effectively completely change the content, or you use cloaking techniques to serve different content to users as to spiders/bots - these techniques are not advisable as they are likely to get you blocked by search engines if they find out what you are doing.

In terms of outbound links - have a think about where they might be relevant. Would it be appropriate to have one page dedicated to other businesses and agencies that you work with? Do you mention any of them elsewhere on the site that you could add links to? Outbound links aren’t essential, but they are a great way to show your commitment to other businesses and to help the web work.
