How do they prevent spam names for petition?

I’ve been observing the petition www.WeWantMedicare.com which seems do be doing well. I’m wondering how they stop spam names from coming in. The last 25 names are displayed, but I haven’t seen any spam names - somehow they are dealing with this - but how??

It’s based on a complex algorithm that takes into account many naming conventions and statistical data. I have a friend that works for a similar company.

Thanks - are there any open source approaches to keep most “bad” names out or being an embarrassment to display without review? Thanks.
