How do I make a input template for entering in birthdays, dates etc?

I am a beginner to python, and I am trying to figure out how to add a template to input. For example
I type in month and then a slash will automatically pop up. Then day another slash. This way there is only one format, and all the user has to enter is numbers and no slashes.
