As an FYI in case you don’t find the response you’re looking for; SPF is focused on the web community so you’ll generally find more expertise around ecommerce and web related businesses so if there’s a digital aspect to what you’re doing, you may want to dive into that here and more about the specific industry in a more niche forum.

That said, with many users from around the business, you could see the next reply from an industry expert.

try reading some party planning tips on the net or ask certified party planner.

I would suggest that’s the typical mistake that most would-be entrepreneurs make. Instead of learning about party planning, Edwinn should be learning about how to run a business. He needs to acquire skills in accounting, budgeting, marketing, and so forth. Those are the skills he will need, regardless of what type of business he is planning. Presumably, he already knows something about parties and how to plan them, otherwise he wouldn’t be contemplating setting himself up as an expert in that field.

Yes, i agree that it is a whole process of management that he must learn to get better results from this. And planning is the first thing to follow and then comes organizing, leading and also controlling it. But first of all, he must learn that how to start the business.

When I started, I had a business degree and a background in sales. but both had nothing to do with event planning. I took a job at a local hotel as a catering sales manager. I was actually not only selling banquet space, I was planning all the events I sold space to. Corporate meetings, weddings, small private group meetings etc. It was a great start which allowed me to have my own business.

What ever you do, follow your heart and passion! Best of luck!

Since the OP posted this thread in 2011 and never returned to it, I don’t think it’s needed anymore.
