Again, I’d like to develop a site but this time, I’d also like to avoid the scipt to be over used.
I had a few site ideas in the past but even when I coded them, they got reverse engineered. My best example is my bi tchy life dot com site that has been copied so many times.
So, where can I get a site developer where I can keep the script rights for myself? Because, let’s face it, I can trademark it, the script can be over sold anywhere.
There’s lots of different ways you can think about this:
If your idea is successful, and is easy to emulate by any developer, then somebody -will- come up with a copy script for sale. You won’t be able to stop this, so why not beat these leeches to the market and sell your own script after an initial period where you’ve hopefully established a sufficient reputation for your site through being first to market and the original innovator.
I can’t think of any lame copy site running on some crappy copy script that ever became 1/1000th of a success of the original, but there’s undoubtedly demand for these knock offs from all sorts of penny pinching get-rich-quicksters, you might as well take their money rather than somebody else that’s just ripped off your idea and knocked out a quick script.
With regards to protection against the scenario where you pay third party developers to create such a script and then they resell it, then hire professionals and make sure you have assignation of copyright, an NDA and an exclusivity period in the contract, and make sure they’re from a jurisdiction where they can have legal force applied.
