We have a client we sent some simple HTML landing pages to to upload to the site which is built in Joomla. We need the landing pages to exist in a folder in the main directory (e.g. www.domain.com/page2010/index.html). It’s just a landing page for an email.
Can Joomla allow just simple HTML files to be uploaded along side of the dynamic PHP files? I have experience with Wordpress and I know you can do this very easily. I figure Joomla must be similar.
The reason is the IT guys over there are taking days to redo “everything according to the new style and to be compatible with the joomla platform.”
But it’s just some html files with images. Why the problem?
Any help asap would be nice before I go tell anyone more opinions on this even though I’ve never dealt with Joomla.
Thanks.
I don’t know why it should take them “days” (I guess that depends on how complicated your page are, and how many), but what you should have done was ask them what they needed before sending them complete html files.
Of course, they could put your html files on the server, but then those pages probably would have another graphical look. And they wouldn’t be able to maintain them through Joomla’s admin panel.
And why do you need them in a folder in the main directory? If they give you the links to the pages they created in Joomla, you can implement those, can’t you?
This is just a landing page for an html email promotion. They look nothing like the site and do not need to be editable in the CMS. They need to be the the main directory just so they have the address: www.companyname.com/promotion
If they have nothing to do with the rest of the site, then I have no idea what they need to do to ‘restyle’ it and make it compatible with Joomla. Compatibility might have something to do with the rewrite rules? But styling sounds to me like they’re going to make these pages look like the rest of the site.
