Most websites have backlinks to homepage.
Link juice I am guessing therefore flows from the homepage to other pages via internal links from the homepage.
Is this true?
Internal links are there to enable people (and search engines) to find their way around your site easily. I can’t see what it has to do with “link juice”.
OK - I did read that anchor text in internal links is used by Google - is that true?

It is true that the link juice passes from the homepage of the website to other internal pages since most of the websites homepage has more back links than internal pages. That is because the link building strategy has not been implemented properly.
The correct approach is that the inbound link distribution should be done evenly throughout an entire website. For e.g If your website have 10 inbound links to homepage, internal pages should at least have 6 inbound links rather than getting 20 backlinks to Homepage and 3-4 to internal pages. Remember to pass Link Juice from high performing pages to low performing pages. That mean Products/Services pages should be given priority while Contact Us/Privacy Policy page should be given low priority. Try not to get NOFOLLOW and Paid links. So its better to opt for good SEO service provider who has updated and in depth knowledge of white hat SEO techniques.
The best links are not those which you place yourself (regarded as pretty much worthless by search engines), but those which you earn, when other sites choose to link to your content. It follows that you have very little control over where these sites link, as they will (correctly) link to whichever page they feel is most appropriate.
However, this whole area is somewhat off-topic; the question is about whether or not Google takes account of internal link structure.
