Highlight current page

i am pretty new to wordpress, and am working on a wordpress site for my school pta.

I am starting to develop a child theme, based on the thematic framework.

On my navigation (access) div, i would like to highlight the currently selected page .

This kind of works on most of the pages, but on one page, it doesn’t work.
(I have highlighted the tab to show the issue more clearly).

All of the tabs will show a cream colored background except when PA Meetings is selected.

under firebug, when this particular tab is selected, it doesn’t register as such.

the pa meeting tab doesn’t work on the link i provided, but i have fixed it since and not yet uploaded the changes.

Well, I ‘fixed’ the problem.

I’m not really sure what it was, but I re-created the page in question, and it now seems to work ok.

I still have to update the remote server, but it works ok on my testing server
