I’m trying to collate a list of SEO techniques, and traffic generation techniques, that I can suggest to various clients. I understand the below list can never be a ‘one size fits all’ solution, however with a large enough list of options I figure I can hand-pick from the below techniques based on the client’s needs and industry.
Of course, I also understand that SEO is more of a long-term technique, and traffic generation can often be treated as a shorter term technique while the SEO work is ‘kicking in’.
I’m hoping you can add any relevant suggestions you have to my list below…so it is as follows:
Search Engine Optimisation:
Keyword Analysis
Competitor Analysis
Tactical copy-writing
On page optimisation of website (page titles, appropriate placement and density of keywords, meta tags, image titles and tags, internal linking)
Off page optimisation of website (inbound links)
Implementation Wordpress blogs (due to it’s fast indexing capabilities - combined with submission to blog directories, such as Blog Catalog, this seems to be a good long term SEO technique)
Paid Traffic Generation:
Pay per click advertising
Banner advertising
Alternative traffic generation methods:
Wikipedia
Wikitravel etc
Google maps, Panaramio
YouTube
Appropriate use of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter)
Find popular key terms related your website using the
search term suggestion tool.
Check if your key terms have a lot of competition. Google ranks each website’s importance from 1-10 according to how many popular websites are linking back to it. It displays each webpage’s ranking on the Google toolbar.
Search for your key terms using the Google toolbar and if the top 5 websites for your key terms have a Google PageRank of more than 5, don’t bother trying to compete. Ideally, you want the top 5 websites to have a PageRank of 4 or less.
When you have 2 or 3 good key terms, use them
throughout your website.
Thanks for list of techniques. I believe there a lot of methods that work for each site. For instance, what works for one site might not work for another site. Youtube traffic has been working great for me. For me, I have been experimenting with YouTube marketing because I heard it was on the up and up. I will basically make one video per article I create. Also, here is all the youtube SEM you need. Put your keywords in title, tags, file name (with dashes), keywords in the description. Don’t forget the link in the description either.
For me I have been experimenting with thetubeviews dot net and it has been really helping my YTSEO.
