Helping remote user find issues with page element failures

Hi there everyone!

A site using VBulletin is causing issues for members using iPads and phones which have been updated to the latest OS. As soon as they updated, they lost the ability to view embedded the attached images in both Safari and chrome.

I don’t own the site, I just moderate but I’m very curious to find out the issue. One of the members Managed to connect remotely with site inspector but stated he saw no errors.

I don’t know what else to do. I’m stymied by the fact that I own no idevices to test with and have no knowledge on their use.

I was wondering if someone might be able to suggest some troubleshooting we might be able to perform to find out what’s causing the issue with the embedded images.

Thanks for your time!

If you have Android Studio or Xcode, you can run pretty accurate emulated devices in order to replicate issues like the ones your users are having. You can also use your web browser to inspect pages running in the simulators. hopefully this is a helpful suggestion.

Hi there John and thanks very much for your help!

The topic discussing the issue can be found here: http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/19-suggestions-feedback-site-help/463970-all-my-pics-vanished-all-my-threads-i-am-totally-bummed-2.html#post6647865

The links to some of the example threads can be found in that post and later. I linked midway through the thread because the OP’s issue was unrelated to this and the support topic morphed to other users and issues till we got here.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide.

I checked a forum site thread with Safari, Chrome and Opera. All pages were identical, thumb nails opened on the same page and in a new tab.

I have had previous experience of losing the internet connection but very seldom.

Intermittent problems are difficult to pinpoint :frowning:

Very much so. It makes it quite frustrating to handle via email or PM since you don’t know if what you suggested actually worked.

Thank you again for taking the time to look into it!
