I am not an expert. But I am working enthusiasticly with wordpress. However my ranking is terrible. Is it possible that is has something to do with html errors? I validated my website with the website auditor of seo suite but the results are awfull.
Do I need to change my wordpress theme?
Does HTML validation got something to do with the google ranking?
It may have a small effect, but it’s not the primary reason. How long has the site been up? It takes a while to gain ground in Google’s eyes. There are a lot of other things you can do to optimize a site. This is really an SEO issue.
Unless your code is so awful that the search engine bots literally can’t crawl and index your site, which is unlikely if it’s a wordpress site, then you don’t really have anything to worry about.
Ranking will depend on how competitive your targeted keywords are but you’d have to tell us what they are to go any further than that.
That is a relief JJMcClure! Happy to hear that. I’m currently @ position number 27 in Google for the words : zelfstandig ondernemer. Which translated is something like “selfsufficient entrepeneur”.
I am trying to get links here and there based on seo spyglass…
Not really, because you often have no control over the code that plugins insert into your site. However, the plugin creators presumably have tested the code to make sure it doesn’t break anything. For example, Google ads don’t validate, but they work.
If validation is really important to you, you can use a transitional doctype, but that achieves nothing, really.
